The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Sub-BMC of Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) is hosting Professor Emeritus Carolyn Johnston from the University of Michigan, in collaboration with the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), for a two-day Gynaecologic Oncology Outreach scheduled for 26th to 27th March 2026. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by HTH to strengthen subspecialty training and enhance the management of gynaecological cancers at the Hospital.
Professor Johnston, a renowned expert in gynaecological oncology, who is in Ghana to visit her mentee and trainee, Professor Adu Appiah-Kubi, Head of Gynaecology Oncology, HTH, and a Professor of Gynaecology Oncology in UHAS, will engage in resident training and capacity building, performing complex gynaecological oncology surgeries alongside the local team. This will provide invaluable in-depth practical learning opportunities for the HTH and UHAS Obstetrics and Gynaecology team.
This collaborative engagement underscores HTH’s commitment to advancing specialised care through international partnerships and continuous professional development. The Hospital looks forward to a fruitful visit that will not only benefit the clinical team but ultimately improve outcomes for patients requiring gynaecologic oncology services.
