NPA Officials Visit Ho Teaching Hospital Music Therapy Studio

Officials from the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) on Wednesday paid a special visit to the Music Therapy Studio at Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH), where they experienced firsthand the transformative impact of music on mental and emotional wellbeing. The delegation, led by the Head of Customer Services, underwent health screenings and engaged with clinical psychologists before participating in a guided music therapy session designed to promote relaxation, stress relief, and overall wellness.

Speaking after the session, the Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at NPA, Mr. Maxwell Ampadu, described the experience as “a lifetime opportunity” and encouraged corporate institutions and organizations to take advantage of the unique therapeutic services offered by the Studio. The Volta Regional Head of NPA, Mr. Kojo Olympio, commended Ho Teaching Hospital for the innovative initiative, describing the investment as worthwhile and impactful. He also called for the development of tailored corporate wellness packages to enable NPA staff to benefit from the service. Welcoming the team, Dr. Emmanuel Kasu, Director of Medical Services at Ho Teaching Hospital, explained that the Music Therapy Studio forms part of the Hospital’s medical tourism agenda, which seeks to position HTH as a centre of excellence for holistic healthcare and wellness services for both local and international clients. Dr. Kasu noted that beyond entertainment, music therapy has proven benefits in reducing stress, enhancing mental health, improving emotional resilience, and supporting recovery, making it an important component of patient-centred care.
