The Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) has become the first healthcare institution in Africa to go live with Redpath 2.0, a digital patient navigation tool designed to map the patient journey and enhance service delivery. Through a strategic partnership with Roche, the hospital has deployed this specialized software and hardware to systematically monitor care from screening through to treatment. The implementation of Redpath at HTH is aimed at creating faster pathways and reducing waiting times for patients. By providing real-time visibility on the barriers that cause delays the system allows the hospital to intervene promptly and ensure care is completed without interruption. This data-driven approach is a key component of HTH’s Medical Tourism agenda, providing the actionable insights needed to improve the overall patient experience.
During the handover, Roche representatives Maxwell Fordjour, Daniel Zah, and Salomey Kokoro emphasized that their mission extends beyond supplying medicine to supporting the infrastructure of care. “At Roche, we do not only sell medicines; we build systems,” they stated, noting that equipping HTH as the first site in Africa for this solution provides a powerful tracking engine for the hospital’s breast cancer care and medical tourism goals. This partnership ensures that as barriers are identified—including a patient’s inability to pay for essential services—targeted interventions can be implemented to ensure no patient is left behind.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Hospital, the Chief Executive Officer of Ho Teaching Hospital, Dr. Hintermann K. K. Mbroh, expressed appreciation to Roche for the support, noting that the initiative aligns with the Hospital’s digital health policy. “Ho Teaching Hospital has adopted a digital-first approach to addressing service delivery challenges. We are excited about this partnership and will leverage it to provide the best possible healthcare services to both local and international clients,” Dr. Mbroh said. The deployment of the Red Path App marks a significant milestone in Ho Teaching Hospital’s efforts to enhance patient-centred care, strengthen its medical tourism agenda, and position itself as a leader in digital health innovation in Africa.
