Head, Male Surgical Ward
Ms. Suzzy Kafui Afenu
Miss Suzzy Kafui Afenu is a Senior Nursing Officer at the Holta Regional Hospital, department of surgery.
After the successful completion of her diploma in nursing program, she did a one-year mandatory clinical rotation at the Magret Marqart Catholic Hospital, Kpando. She also did part of her clinical affiliation at the Kpando health center. She is a great team member who puts in her all to ensure desired results are achieved.
Education
She had her nursing education (Diploma in Nursing) at the Nurses Training College, Ho, went to pursue BSc. (Hons) Nursing at the University of Care Coast.
Work Experience
She practiced as a general nurse in the male surgical ward of the Volta Regional Hospital for 5 months where she was moved to continue at the male medical ward of the same hospital for 10 months. After her first degree program at the University of Care Coast, she returned to the Volta Regional Hospital as a Nursing Officer and has since practiced at the male surgical ward. She served as the deputy ward manager for two years. She is involved in the direct mentorship and supervision to students and newly posted staff as one of the preceptors of the hospital.
Head, Urology/Orthopaedic Unit
Ms. Suronipa Edem Millicent
Madam Suronipa Millicent Edem is a Nursing Officer and the ward manager of the Urology and Orthopaedic ward in the Volta Regional Hospital (VRH). She joined the VRH team in March, 2017. The focus of her work is to care for clients to achieve optimum health and help them perform tasks they cannot perform for themselves due to ill-health. She is a good team leader, time conscious, dedicated, hardworking with good customer care skills. She has an excellent personality to make other staff in her ward perform their responsibilities thereby helping the clients attain optimum health. She is a member of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA) and also a member of the Registered Graduate Nurses Association of Ghana (REGNAG).
Education
She holds an M.A in Health Education from the University of Cape Coast and a Bsc Nursing from the University of Ghana. She also holds a certificate in Computer software from Bomag Computer Institute. She was a General Science student and attained her high school certificate from Wesley Grammar High School.
Work Experience
She had most of her clinical attachment at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and 37 Military Hospital. After completing her Bsc program and passing the Nursing and Midwifery Licencing exams successfully she performed her one year rotation at the 37 millitary Hospital in Greater Accra. She then moved to Royal hospital to work as a nurse. In the year 2017 she was then posted by the Ghana Health Service to the Volta Regional Hospital. The first ward she was assigned to at VRH was the Female surgical ward. She was later assigned to the Orthopaedic and Urology ward of VRH as a ward manager. She also works as a Clinical examiner for UHAS.
Science/Research output
Her client and family care study was done on a client with Hiatus Hernia at the Cardio-thoracic Centre, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. She did her first project work while in UG on Knowledge and challenges of mothers with malnourished children at the Princesse Marie Louis Hospital, Accra. She did her second research work while in UCC on assessing the Health needs of students of Moree Senior Technical High School. Over the years she has attended a lot of workshops and conferences in both Nursing and Leadership. She has also organized conferences for the Urology and Orthopaedic ward of the VRH.
